Real estate sustainable challenges

May 01, 2022

Dear Readers,

Construction represents 40% of global carbon emissions. The stakes are high. Climate change is no longer a marketing catchphrase or a passing trend. For JLL, it is the biggest challenge we have ever faced. My team and I are strong defenders of a sustainable, diversified and inclusive future. Now we need to get the ball rolling as this decade will be crucial. The teams are ready, informed and trained, but above all motivated to translate sustainability ambitions into solutions and action. Luxembourg has made a global pledge and sees great potential for action. Be it in construction, adaptation or renovation, long-term shift s are already happening. The proliferation of European and non-European green certifi cations in Luxembourg also offers added value to the property market. There is of course still a lot to be done and many obstacles to be overcome. Reducing the environmental impact of real estate needs to now become a TOP priority for investors, developers and tenants. JLL is making 2022 the year of sustainability.
